Insurance and reinsurance broking group Gallagher has announced the appointment of Sanjay Mehra as Head of Marine in India.
Mehra, who has 15 years in the insurance industry, with a strong focus on marine specialty, is joining the company from Aon, where he most recently served as Vice President of its Marine Practice for close to seven years.
During his tenure at Aon, the executive was instrumental in building the broker’s Ports and Marine Liability portfolio from the ground up. He also developed marketing strategies and business plans to align with the company’s goal.
His other responsibilities included developing and maintaining relations with potential international reinsurers, focusing on India Ports and Marine Liability risks.
Before Aon, Mehra worked at Marsh India as an Assistant Vice President in the Marine Practice, a role he held for almost three years following his time as Deputy Chief Manager at KM Dastur Rein.
His career has also seen him hold roles at companies like Howden Insurance Brokers and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company.
Commenting on his recent appointment, a Gallagher spokesperson said: “We are confident that Sanjay’s expertise in marine products, business development, reinsurance, and maritime law will significantly strengthen our marine capabilities. His deep industry knowledge and strategic vision are invaluable assets.”
