Ageless hockey player inducted into CARHA Hockey Hall of Fame

‘Every community, league, and team has at least one individual who deserves to be nominated for the CARHA Hockey Hall of Fame’

Jon Cobb, retired educator, coach and North Bay Sports Hall of Fame member, was inducted into the Canadian Amateur Recreational Hockey Association’s (CARHA) Hockey Hall of Fame.

Each year, hockey players who are in their 80th year age-wise are eligible to be nominated.

Since 1975, Individuals and/or hockey-related groups who exemplify the organization’s specific goals and objectives have been inducted into the prestigious CARHA Hockey Hall of Fame.

“Every community, league, and team has at least one individual who deserves to be nominated for the CARHA Hockey Hall of Fame. These individuals are easy to identify as they have made a personal commitment to adult recreational hockey as a builder, a player, a friend, a member of the media, or perhaps an entire team deserves recognition,” CARHA stated on its website.

“Those who have already been selected into the Hall of Fame have set a high standard of commitment, dedication, and sportsmanship that the association continuously endeavours to maintain.”

Cobb, a coordinator for the local Wooden Sticks Senior Men’s old timers hockey club, recently turned 80 and was nominated by his team.

The induction ceremony took place on Saturday, May 3 in Ottawa, following a Hall of Fame Game.

Cobb was supported by his wife and family members, along with a few of his teammates.
