Sheridan/Buffalo HS Soccer: This year’s Wyoming 4A High School Soccer State Tournament will be different compared to past years.
Different in the sense that with so many teams in the West during the regular season, all they could do was play other west teams.
The East teams had a little bit of breathing room in their schedule to play a 3A opponent or an out of state opponent.
The bottom line is that none of the 4A East and West teams got to play each other this season and don’t share any common opponents.
Sheridan Boys Head Coach Wade Kinsey says he’s been trying to do as much video scouting as possible, because every first round matchup is going to be a challenge.
The Broncs play Rock Springs in the first round of the State Tournament this coming Thursday at 11am at Campbell County High School.
As for the girls, to say their first round opponent at the state tournament is interesting, might be the understatement of the season.
The Lady Broncs will play Kelly Walsh, who are the defending state champs, and were the #1 seed going into last week’s west regional tournament, but then stumbled against Green River and Riverton.
Sheridan Head Coach Josh Dube says the girls are going to take the cards that were dealt to them, and continue to play the way they’ve been playing.
The Lady Broncs vs. the Lady Trojans are the first game of the day on Thursday at 9am at Thunder Basin High School.
In the 3A Soccer State Tournament, the Buffalo boys play Powell at 11am and the Buffalo girls take on Cody at 2pm.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers will play 5 games over the course of Friday and Saturday and next week Monday at Gillette.
The team will take part in a 6-team round robin event against in-state competition.
The Troopers play the host team, Gillette on Friday at 7:30pm
On Saturday, they’ll play Evanston at 9:30am and Jackson at 12-noon.
Sunday will be an off day for graduation.
On Monday, the Troopers will take on Powell at 12-noon, as well as Laramie at 2:30pm.
Wyoming High School Rodeo: Buffalo will host a competition on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.
This is the last rodeo event before the state high school finals, which will take place June 5th, 6th and 7th, and that competition will be in Buffalo as well.
Throughout the fall and spring seasons, cowboys and cowgirls earn points based on what place they finish in at each rodeo event.
The top 4 after the State High School finals, get to compete at the High School National Finals Rodeo, which will take place in mid-July in Rock Springs.
Looking at the standings, Kamry and Karly Davis of Buffalo are 4th and 5th in the barrel racing.
Kamry is also 2nd in the breakaway roping, while Karly is 2nd in the girls cutting.
Bleu Butler of Big Horn, who is the granddaughter of the late Chris Ledoux, is 3rd in the goat tying
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the first game of a 4-game series at home vs. Philadelphia last night 9-3.
Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo home run, and Colorado had a 3-2 lead going into the 8th inning, but then the bullpen fell apart from there.
The Rocks and Phillies will play each other again today at 6:40pm.
