Acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who made waves with his debut feature Maanagaram and several successful films, is gearing up for an exciting lineup of projects.
His next big thing is Coolie—earlier known as Thalaivar 171—which marks his first-ever collaboration with superstar Rajinikanth.
In different interviews, Kanagaraj has teased that this film will showcase Rajinikanth in an all-new avatar and take an experimental route.

After the success of Coolie, Kanagaraj is gearing up to helm Kaithi 2, the follow-up to his breakout hit, Kaithi.
Even with his recent hits, many fans still regard Kaithi as his finest work. Actor Karthi has confirmed that shooting for Kaithi 2 will kick off in 2025.
Another much-anticipated sequel in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) is Vikram 2, which follows the 2022 blockbuster, Vikram.
Standalone film for Suriya’s ‘Rolex’ character?
Though there’s no official word yet, rumors are swirling that a standalone film featuring Suriya as the Rolex character from Vikram could be in the pipeline.
Director Kanagaraj has also hinted at this possibility in several interviews, saying it would depend on time and circumstances.

‘Leo 2’ faces uncertainty due to Vijay’s political commitments
Another project that might be on Kanagaraj’s plate is Leo 2, a sequel to his film Leo. But this one has its own set of hurdles, mainly because of actor Vijay’s political commitments.
Kanagaraj has mentioned that Leo 2 could come to life if Vijay has the time for it.
Rumor has it that Vijay plans to do just one more movie after GOAT, currently called Thalapathy 69, before diving headfirst into politics.
