“Get It Done”: LeBron James Blurs Retirement Timeline at Lakers Media Day After Olympics Realization

LeBron James will turn 40 come December. He’s been around the NBA for more than two decades now. People his age would simply hang their boots, enjoy a martini on the beach, and spend time with the fam, because why not? But well, King-like behavior of our very own King- he continues to pose a threat to the opponents. But does Bron never think about retirement? Surely, this has been in conversation for years now. However, with a player option kept in store for 2025-26, will James keep going?

During the Lakers media day on September 30, someone asked LeBron James how long he will continue in the NBA. Well, he didn’t seem to have a date-by-date post-NBA plan chalked out. This means retirement isn’t the first choice at the moment, a trivial topic, then? The 20x NBA All-Star said, “I definitely got an opportunity to just enjoy the moment, you know. Enjoy what we were able to do and what we accomplished. When you’re along 11 other unbelievably great talents, some of the best talents we’ve ever seen.”

“It gives you a lot of joy to be able to play the gameplay at a high level. Come to work every day, and push each other. For myself individually to go out there at my age, miles that I have and to be able to play at the level I played at,” King James continued.

‘The Chosen One’ has undoubtedly made America proud. With back-to-back Olympic medals, and consistency at the NBA, who can ever become an ounce of what the GOAT is? There’s a lot yet to be done according to the icon! He continued, “I do have a lot of the tank, A LOT (he emphasized), and I can help a big part of a team win the ultimate and whatever if it’s gold or if it’s a Larry O’Brien trophy or whatever the case it is.

Is LeBron James hinting at retirement sooner than we think? React!

“Maybe, I can still get it done. So that was pretty cool just from an individual standpoint to know that you could be out there with the best players in the world and still be able to have a big part of it not only on the floor but off the floor too, so that was dope,” he concluded with the topic. Well, Bron sounds like he feels he can go on for a while. At least until the 2028 Summer Olympics, maybe, who knows? Besides, his son is also debuting this season, so he could be around a bit longer to help Bronny’s transition in the league.

For someone with a career stat of 27.1 points per game, continuing in the league or playing for the country shouldn’t be an unfathomable task. But, does this mean critics don’t backlash against LeBron James, or injuries don’t plague him? No. In reality, he is one of the most hardworking hoopers, and coach Steve Kerr watched it firsthand during the Paris Olympics phase earlier this year.

After leading Team USA to Olympic gold, LeBron James looks ahead to working with JJ Redick for another Lakers title

LeBron James realized his dreams for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 3 gold medals back-to-back that too without breaking a sweat! The 39-year-old played a major role in turning those dreams into reality. After coming off a strong NBA season for the Lakers, James was in the Olympics fever. During the training days, USA’s head coach, Steve Kere, saw what kind of champion material King James was made of, even the former coaches Ty Lue and Erik Spoelstra, confirmed that the vet puts in this level of effort every day.

But now that he’s back in the NBA and with the Lakers for the seventh season- some plans need solid execution. With JJ Redick, as the new coach, who happens to be of the same age as LeBron James, is optimistic about the roster.

Especially now when Bronny is about to debut, everything stands on a sensitive platform. Moreover, LeBron James is in support of the Lakers’ new coach who has already taken over the workforce. “My understanding of the modern game, my relationships with players, it felt like the right time for me personally to go into coaching. And then obviously I wanted to coach the Lakers,” JJ Redick shared.

Meanwhile, game plans and strategies have already been discussed, as JJ Redick reported. LeBron James has given some strong inputs and, well, it remains a secret for now! Of course, why would anyone share their internal plans? Let the rivals brew up their theories! So, is the Lakers looking more promising than before? Yes. Can they become title contenders in this season? This question will find its answer once the games begin. Until then, you predict the possibility of the Lakers winning the championship in 2024-25.
