Kaja Kallas Highlights Critical Humanitarian Needs in Ukraine at EU Council Meeting

As reported by the official website of the Council of the European Union

Kaja Kallas, a senior representative of the European Union, emphasized that Ukraine’s humanitarian needs remain critically high, especially in the areas of housing and energy. She made this statement following a meeting of the EU Council, where development issues were discussed.

At the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, the latest events related to Ukraine were reviewed, and a Plan for Ukraine was presented. Participants discussed how to ensure coordinated and effective support from the European Union.

Kallas noted that April 2025 became one of the deadliest months for civilians since the full-scale Russian invasion began in February 2022.

Since the start of the war in 2022, EU countries together with the European Commission have provided Ukraine with humanitarian aid totaling 4.2 billion euros, of which 1.1 billion euros was allocated specifically by the European Commission.

Kallas also highlighted that over 155 thousand tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Ukraine, demonstrating significant support from the European Union during this difficult time.
