UAS welcomes new dean of education school, Sitka campus director

JUNEAU — The University of Alaska Southeast has named two new leaders.

Dr. Carlee Simon is now the permanent dean of the School of Education. She had served in the role on an interim basis since last year and helped lead the school through a successful accreditation process.

Dr. Jeremy Rupp has been named director of the university’s Sitka campus. He takes over for Dr. Paul Kraft, who retired earlier this year.

Rupp brings more than 25 years of experience in education and leadership. He’s originally from Soldotna and spent part of his upbringing in East Africa.

Chancellor Aparna Palmer said in a press release that both leaders bring the experience and energy needed to help the university grow and prepare students for Alaska’s future workforce.
