India’s flagship Vande Bharat trains may head to Paraguay, Infra News, ET Infra

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, met the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, on Monday to explore cooperation in the railways sector. During the meeting, the Paraguayan President expressed interest in importing India’s Vande Bharat trains and extended an invitation for India to participate in the Central Bi-Oceanic Railway Corridor project, which aims to connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Vaishnaw stated:

The Vande Bharat Express, first launched on February 15, 2019 on the New Delhi–Kanpur–Allahabad–Varanasi route, is a part of the Union government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The train is designed and manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, which completed the project in 18 months through in-house efforts and coordination with several suppliers.Vande Bharat trains have a maximum speed of 160 kmph and operate with different travel classes. Features include an intelligent braking system, GPS-based audio-visual passenger information, onboard hotspot Wi-Fi, automatic doors, and rotating chairs in executive class.
