India Leads in AI Influencer Engagement, YouGov Survey Shows

A new survey by UK-based YouGov has revealed that people across 17 markets are more cautious than optimistic globally about AI’s expanding role in everyday life over the next decade.

More than one-fifth of respondents worldwide, specifically 22%, express feeling cautious about the rise of AI. Notably, the company’s press release stated that Indonesians (34%) and Polish respondents (33%) are the most cautious, followed closely by the French at 30%, Singaporeans at 27%, and Spanish respondents at 26%.

In addition, 17% of global respondents feel concerned, with the highest concern reported in France at 27%, the United States at 26%, and Great Britain at 25%.

Despite concerns, 16% of worldwide respondents are optimistic about AI’s future, with 7% feeling excited. Optimism is highest in Hong Kong at 33%, while over a quarter of those in Indonesia and India share this positive outlook. Notably, 30% of Indians and 21% of UAE residents are particularly excited about AI’s growth.

Regarding AI-powered content experiences, 26% find them helpful for discovering new content, 18% consider them unhelpful, and 32% are unsure.

The global survey also reveals that approximately one in four respondents, 23%, are likely to engage with AI-generated influencers. Indians show the highest engagement potential at 55%, followed by the UAE at 51% and Indonesians at 48%. Significant interest is also reported in Hong Kong, with 40%, 30%, and 26% in Australia and 26% in Singapore.

AI influencers have gained considerable traction in India, reflecting a broader global trend of growing demand for personalised and targeted marketing. Many brands also seek the audience’s attention by introducing engaging AI-generated content.

However, in contrast, Western markets such as the UK, Denmark, and the US, standing at 11% each, exhibit the lowest likelihood of engaging with AI-generated influencers. Respondents from these countries are more inclined to say they are unlikely to engage with content featuring AI influencers.
