Waldorf Astoria set for second hotel in India – Industry News

Hilton on Wednesday announced the signing of a second Waldorf Astoria hotel in India, to come up at Aerocity, New Delhi. The first, in Jaipur, is slated to open in 2027. FE had reported in May that the brand is expected to announce within a month its second hotel in the country under the luxury brand.

The hospitality company will also open a property under its flagship full-service brand, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with GMR Group-led Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) at Aerocity, expanding its portfolio in Delhi-NCR to six.

The Waldorf Astoria will feature 150 rooms and suites, signature dining experiences, large event spaces and wellness amenities. The property will include the brand’s iconic Peacock Alley. The 350-room Hilton will be the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in New Delhi.

Commenting on the signing, Chris Nassetta, president & CEO, Hilton, said, “The signing of a Waldorf Astoria and Hilton in Delhi Aerocity underscores Hilton’s long-term commitment to India.”

Kiran Kumar Grandhi, corporate chairman, GMR Group, said, “Partnering with Hilton to bring Waldorf Astoria and Hilton to GMR Aerocity reflects our commitment to bring world-class global brands to Aerocity, positioning it as a force multiplier for Delhi’s tourism and business economy.”

Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said, “This marks a major milestone in our India growth strategy, and the signing is another step in our goal to grow our India portfolio to 10 times its current size in the next decade.”

In India, Hilton’s luxury brand portfolio is set to quadruple and will soon include Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, and Signia by Hilton, besides two existing Conrad Hotels & Resorts properties in Bengaluru and Pune. In May, Hilton announced the launch of LXR Hotels & Resorts in India with The Den, Bengaluru.
