Tommy Hilfiger’s ‘F1’ Movie Collection Claims Pole Position In The Style Race
- Tommy Hilfiger has revealed its APXGP collaboration with Joseph Kosinski’s F1 movie, while also announcing its sponsorship of the incoming Cadillac F1 team.
- This collision of film and fashion stars Damson Idris at the heart of the campaign, captured at a racetrack (ostensibly as his character, APXGP driver Joshua Pearce).
- The collection is currently available from Tommy Hilfiger stores and online; the F1 film premieres in Australia on July 26th.
Anticipation for the F1 film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris has been steadily building, and a month out from its premiere date, Tommy Hilfiger has dropped its APXGP movie tie-in collection.
This isn’t the first F1-related collaboration we’ve seen: watchmaker IWC recently debuted a handful of APXGP edition timepieces while Mercedes released limited-edition GT63s. But Tommy Hilfiger’s capsule takes a slightly more everyday approach. The campaign for the collection is fronted by brand ambassador and breakout star Damson Idris; nicely capturing the bold ambition and cool confidence the young actor brings to his role as APXGP rookie Joshua Pearce in F1.
Tommy Hilfiger also confirmed its freshly inked deal as the official apparel partner of the incoming Cadillac F1 team, ahead of the American-founded automaker’s Formula 1 debut next season. The deal means the kit worn by the drivers, pit crew, paddock staff, and management will be manufactured by Tommy Hilfiger, in addition to threads for fans.
The APXGP Collection nods to F1’s influence beyond the circuit, blending form and function with mechanic-inspired shirts and even a vegan leather moto jacket recast in a bomber silhouette. A chic knit polo injects Tommy Hilfiger’s signature refinement into racing-ready attire, while a striking red quilted jacket, designed from the exact silhouette worn by Idris in the film, serves as the collection’s standout piece.
“Since I was a kid peeking through the fences at Watkins Glen racetrack, Formula 1 has been legendary to me,” Tommy Hilfiger said in a statement.
“As F1 has opened its doors to new worlds like entertainment and fashion, the sport has become a cultural phenomenon.”
“This film captures the cultural shift, setting a benchmark in what we call ‘fashiontainment’, where the future is being shaped. It’s a bold new chapter, and we’re setting the pace for what comes next.”
The Tommy Hilfiger APXGP collection is now available from both Tommy Hilfiger stores and online. Joseph Kosinski’s F1 movie, on the other hand, hits Aussie screens on July 26th.
