Taiwan Athletics Open: India Dominate With 6 Gold Medals | Sports News

The Indian contingent claimed six gold medals, including double podium finishes in the women’s 800m final and the long jump competition, on the concluding day of the Taiwan Open International Athletics Championship on Sunday.

Three-time national champion Vithya Ramraj, Rohit Yadav, Pooja, Krishan Kumar, and Annu Rani secured gold medals in their respective events, marking an impressive performance by the Indian team.

Additionally, the men’s 4x400m relay team comprising Santosh T, Vishal TK, Dharamveer Chaudhary, and Manu TS clinched gold with a championship record time of 3:05.58s, capping off the country’s successful campaign on a high note.

Yashas Palaksha won silver in the men’s 400m hurdles with a personal best of 42.22s, boosting his confidence after narrowly missing out on the 2025 Asian Championships.

Vithya Ramraj clocked 56.53s to win gold in the women’s 400m hurdles, her third-best time of the year, earning valuable ranking points for the upcoming World Championships. The Tamil Nadu athlete competes in the 400m hurdles, 400m, and 4×400m relay. Previously, she recorded 56.04s in the Federation Cup final and 56.46s in the Asian Championship final.

In the men’s javelin throw, Rohit Yadav’s best throw of 74.42m earned him gold, despite not breaching the 75m mark. Taipei’s Huang Shih-Feng took silver with a throw of 74.04m, while his compatriot Cheng Chao-Tsun secured bronze with a throw of 73.95m.

Pooja set a championship record of 2:02.79s to win the women’s 800m final, narrowly beating compatriot Twinkle Chaudhary, who clocked 2:06.96s for silver.

Krishan Kumar came from behind to win the men’s 800m final with a championship record time of 1:48.46s.

In the women’s javelin final, Annu Rani struck gold with a throw of 56.82m, finishing ahead of Sri Lanka’s Hatarabage Lekamalage (56.82m) and Taipei’s Pin-Hsun Chu (53.03m).

In the women’s long jump, India’s Shaili Singh (6.41m) and Ancy Sojan (6.39m) secured silver and bronze respectively, behind Australia’s Delta Amidzovski, who won gold with a jump of 6.49m.
