New Delhi: Megastar Kamal Haasan’s action drama, Thug Life, which released on June 5, is now witnessing a strong decline despite earning a total of Rs 42.23 crore. The movie is continuously facing low numbers at the box office. The film was hyped much at the beginning of its release due to it being actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam’s comeback after 38 long years.
However, the movie’s collection and social media reviews suggest that the film was not well received by the audience, as some claim it to be a repetition of Mani Ratnam’s previous movies, while some did not like the acting of the stars in the film.
Box Office collection of Thug Life
The movie saw a continuous decline from day 5 of its theatrical release. It earned Rs 2.3 crore on Monday, which was almost 64.62 per cent low as compared to its previous day collection, whereas the movie collected Rs 1.8 crore on Tuesday, which shows a 21.74 per cent decline in the earnings. On Wednesday, the collection was Rs 1.22 crore, and the rough data shows that the Thursday collection of the film will be Rs 0.01 crore which leads to the total earning of Rs 42.23 Cr.
The reason considered by the trade analyst for the movie’s lesser earnings is due to its ban in Karnataka amid language controversy, and Housefull 5‘s release in Hindi cinemas. Talking about the earlier predictions by various trade analysts, it was estimated that despite the controversy and the ban, the movie would not be affected.
