Sony Music Publishing Partners with Bright Chimezie to Preserve Zigima Legacy

Sony Music Publishing has announced a landmark publishing deal with Nigerian highlife legend Bright Chimezie, aimed at preserving and promoting his vibrant musical legacy.

Widely recognised for his electrifying stage presence and for pioneering the distinct “Zigima Sound,” Bright Chimezie remains a key figure in the evolution of highlife and Afrobeat music.

As part of the agreement, Sony Music Publishing will manage and curate Chimezie’s extensive catalog, including his celebrated compositions and recordings, with the goal of introducing his timeless sound to a new generation of global listeners.

Speaking on the significance of the partnership, Managing Director of Sony Music Publishing Nigeria, Godwin Tom, said, “Bright Chimezie’s music has transcended time and continues to resonate across borders. The highlife icon also shared his excitement about the collaboration, emphasising the importance of cultural preservation.
