Air India flight makes emergency landing after receiving bomb threat
India: An Air India flight (AI 379) travelling from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi, India, made an emergency landing back at Phuket International Airport on Friday, June 13, 2025.
The emergency landing was prompted by a bomb threat received onboard the aircraft shortly after its departure. The flight, carrying 156 passengers, safely returned to the Thai island. Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated from the plane, and a preliminary search did not uncover any explosives.
The incident occurred just one day after a separate, unrelated Air India flight (AI 171, Ahmedabad to London Gatwick) crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India, resulting in a tragic loss of over 240 lives. This emergency landing of AI 379 in Phuket comes amidst heightened alert in India’s aviation sector due to a recent surge in bomb threats.
More details awaited.
