HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University right-hander Brennan Stuprich was named the Southland Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Friday, joining Ryan Brome and TJ Salvaggio as a member of the conference’s All-Academic Teams.

Brome (3.76 GPA, General Studies), Salvaggio (3.29 GPA, General Studies) and Stuprich (3.63 GPA, Master of Business Administration) all earned first-team honors.

Stuprich is the third Southland Conference Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year in program history, joining Jameson Fished (2016) and Corey Gaconi (2019).

A native of Kenner, Louisiana, Stuprich compiled a 9-5 win-loss record, 109 strikeouts and a 2.90 ERA. He led the Southland Conference in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched.

Stuprich also became the program’s all-time leader in wins (tied), games started and innings pitched, along with finishing one strikeout shy of tying the SLU career record.

It is the third postseason honor in as many days for the right-hander. Stuprich picked up All-Region honors Tuesday from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and All-America honors Wednesday from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

He was previously named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year and earned All-Southland honors, in addition to being placed on the College Baseball Foundation’s National Pitcher of the Year watch list.

Brome finished the season hitting .355 with 12 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and 36 RBIs. The senior from Katy, Texas ranked third in the Southland in slugging percentage (.690) and OPS (1.165), fifth in on-base percentage (.475), seventh in batting average, ninth in home runs and 10th in HBPs (10).

Salvaggio finished the season hitting .320 with 11 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs and 48 RBIs. The senior from Slidell, Louisiana ranked eighth in the Southland in hits (71) and home runs. He led the Lions with 50 runs scored.
