Lola Tung Wears 2004 Dior Mini to Usher in Season 3 of ‘TSITP’

NEED TO KNOW

  • Lola Tung is the latest Gen Z trendsetter to go vintage with their wardrobe
  • The actress wore a 2004 Dior paisley minidress for a trailer screening of season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty in N.Y.C.
  • During an earlier Prime Video press event, she wore a Roberto Cavalli floor-length dress that was altered into a completely new outfit

As fans get excited for the return of The Summer I Turned Pretty, they can also get psyched about the press looks to come from its main star Lola Tung.

On June 11, the 22-year-old actress bopped around New York City to promote the anticipated third season of the hit Prime Video series, which is based on the novels by Jenny Han.

For a trailer release party at Central Park Boathouse, Tung, styled by Britt McCamey, wore a paisley Dior minidress from 2004 (that’s right, just two years after Tung was born.)

The look was sourced from luxury resale platform The RealReal and, as Marie Claire notes, was designed during John Galliano’s reign at the label.

The number was ever so appropriate for a Big Apple summer with its colorful paisley pattern and skin-baring silhouette. Though, Tung introduced more colorful accents to the look with satin baby blue heels and a mustard yellow handbag.

Tung’s glam appeared to be early aughts-inspired as well, as it featured a very Y2K updo with face-framing bangs and a fierce eyeliner look topped with glitter.

Earlier in the day, Tung attended the Escape with Prime Luncheon in another designer dress sourced from The RealReal.

On her Instagram Stories, McCamey posted a video of Tung trying on a flowery floor-length Roberto Cavalli design at the company’s store, confirming that the pair decided to actually turn the dress into a fun crop top and miniskirt set for the event.

These days, there’s nothing that a Gen Z trendsetter loves more than wearing an outfit that’s older than them.

Olivia Rodrigo, for example, attended the 2025 Grammys in a 2001 Versace gown that surpassed her in age (yet still had a timeless element to it). And even Kylie Jenner has been dipping into designer archives like Chanel’s 1995 Spring/Summer swimwear, as proven by a recent Instagram post that showed her wearing a studded bikini first worn by Claudia Schiffer.

Yet, while Tung’s fashion is pointing to the past, she’s definitely looking toward the future when it comes toThe Summer I Turned Pretty (the show’s final season premieres on July 16).

Per the trailer, the storyline begins two years after Belly decided to be in a relationship with Jeremiah over his brother Conrad and a synopsis teases “core-shaking events” in the love triangle.

In addition to Tung, returning cast members include Christopher Briney (Conrad), Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Sean Kaufman (Steven), Rain Spencer (Taylor) and Jackie Chung (Laurel).

In a joint interview with Briney and Casalegno for Entertainment Weekly, Tung opened up about returning to set after a long pause from filming. “We had so much time off, time to grow and mature,” she shared in the May 20 article. “We had been apart for so long, so it was really nice to be back.”
