Stroud Sacred Music Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary

The festival will open on July 5 with a morning performance from sarod maestro K Sridhar.

Reverend Simon Howell, festival co-founder, said: “This year, we are expanding the edges of what sacred music can be.

“We believe that music connects us both to what is beyond and to each other – a door to oneness and peace.”

The festival will collaborate with sound artist and producer John Best and d&b Audiotechnik to transform St Laurence Church into a 360-degree soundscape with an amplified resonance.

Saturday will see performances from numerous artists, as well as food stalls in the town centre.

Sunday will end with a ‘cowshed service’. This form of contemplative service originated in a re-purposed outbuilding – a cow shed – in the nearby village of Bisley, and brings together the riches of Eastern and Western wisdom traditions.

The full programme is available on the festival website.

Tickets are on sale for the whole weekend or as individual sessions.
