F1- The Movie Box Office: Film emerges as surprise superhit from Hollywood :Bollywood Box Office

F1 – The Movie has emerged as a superhit in India, and deservingly so. Till 3-4 weeks before its arrival, hardly anyone was even aware that this Hollywood offering would be hitting the big screens soon. However, once a special Wednesday late evening show was planned for it prior to release and it was sold out in quick time, expectations soared big time from the film.

Still, it seemed that eventually this Brad Pitt film would work with a select set of audiences who are sports, and more specifically, car racing enthusiasts. The film seemed like Rs. 50 crores runner in the best-case scenario and even that would have been a good score since sports-based films coming from Hollywood haven’t done even this well before. However, the film continued to surprise big time on its release, especially at IMAX, what with the first week numbers coming to Rs. 34.78 crores.

The real surprise was in store in weeks to follow though because despite the arrival of Jurassic World: Rebirth and Superman, the film ended up collecting Rs. 24.88 crores and Rs. 13.40 crores in its second and third week respectively which goes on to reaffirm that this one is here to stay. So far, the film has already collected Rs. 73.06 crores and this weekend it’s going to definitely grow further with around Rs. 5 crores more all set to come in. Unfortunately, Rs. 100 crores is out of reach for the film but eventually it will hit Rs. 90 crores mark for sure which will earn it the tag of a superhit.
