Neo 21 Aims to Reshape Nigerian Music Globally

Singer, Wale Aroyewun, popularly known as Neo 21, has said that he wants his music to resonate with listeners in a deeply personal way. According to him, his aim is to create sounds that not only feel familiar but also speak to a new generation of music lovers.

In an interview with Society Plus, he said, “Afrofusion, for me, is about staying rooted in my heritage while speaking to a new generation of listeners, whether they’re in Lagos, Bradford, or anywhere else. I want my music to feel like home and be futuristic at the same time.”

The singer also noted that his Extended Play album titled, Teriqus, which is set for release later this month, is a reflection of how artistes in the Diaspora are helping to reshape the narrative of Nigerian music beyond geographical boundaries.

Highlighting what distinguishes him as an artiste, Neo 21 said, “My independent spirit and global ambition stand me out.”

Despite being proud of how far he has come, the artiste insists that he is just getting started. With plans to expand his live performances and collaborate with producers across Europe and Africa, he stated that he remains focused on reaching a wider audience while staying true to his roots.

“I want the next young artiste in Lagos or Bradford to see that you don’t have to compromise who you are to be heard,” he noted.
