That’s when Ashish and Elli dropped their new music video Chandaniya on Instagram, catching fans completely off-guard. Turns out, the romantic build-up wasn’t about a real-life love story. It was all part of the marketing for the song.
Chandaniya is part of the album Master of Melody and features the soulful voice of Vishal Mishra. The song is composed by Mithoon, with heartfelt lyrics by Sayeed Quadri.
The music video, directed with a dreamy aesthetic, is set in the romantic streets of Venice and tells the story of a couple navigating long-distance love.
In the video, Ashish plays a cafe worker in Venice, going through his usual routine. But his day takes a magical turn when Elli’s character surprises him on his birthday. What follows is a montage of the two sharing coffee, wandering the city’s alleys, and stealing quiet moments together.
Fans who had fallen for the “relationship reveal” felt both tricked and entertained when Ashish finally addressed the gossip after the video release.
True to his comedic style, he posted another clip poking fun at everyone who believed he was really dating Elli. In the video, Ashish, now 31, laughed off the situation, cheekily acknowledging his role in stirring up the internet.
