The Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system has granted more than 85% of certificates, licenses, and permits (CLPs) in less than an hour, according to the National Board of Revenue. The tax administrator said in a statement that more than 94% of the 431,169 CLPs that were granted as of 20th July of this year were released in a single day. Over 430,000 certificates, licenses, and permits (CLPs) have been issued through the platform.
The platform also facilitates automatic issuance of CLPs for 19 key agencies, including the Department of Customs (DGDA), Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), and others. These agencies have already integrated with the BSW portal, and MoUs have been signed with 38 departments, ministries, and agencies to ensure seamless online services.
The introduction of the BSW system marks a major shift toward digitalisation in trade processes. All activities related to import-export certificates, licenses, and permits will now be completed online, reducing human intervention, increasing transparency, and lowering costs. This modernisation is expected to boost both domestic and international trade by fostering trust among traders and investors.
To use the platform, importers and exporters are required to register on the BSW website (bswnbr.gov.bd) using their Business Identification Number (BIN). Once registered, users can apply online for necessary trade-related documents and receive CLPs automatically, significantly expediting the clearance process.
The BSW system signifies a major step forward in Bangladesh’s efforts to modernize its trade infrastructure and promote a more efficient, transparent business environment.
