Sony Bravia 5 98-inch Mini LED TV with Dolby Vision launched in India: Price, features and availability

Sony India has officially launched the BRAVIA 5 98-inch (model K-98XR55A), its largest television offering to date, entering the super large TV segment, for users looking for a cinematic experience at home. The 98-inch television features a 4K UHD (3840×2160) Mini LED display and is powered by Sony’s Cognitive Processor XR.

The BRAVIA 5 features Sony’s XR Backlight Master Drive, which combines independently controlled Mini LEDs with precision dimming to deliver deep blacks, bright highlights, and consistent contrast even in complex lighting scenarios like candlelight or sunrises.

It supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, paired with a 40W Acoustic Multi-Audio speaker setup and Dolby Atmos for immersive surround sound. Together, these aim to recreate a cinematic audio-visual experience at home.

The Cognitive Processor XR processor analyses and optimises video and audio based on how humans naturally see and hear, adjusting colour, contrast, depth, and motion to deliver a more realistic viewing experience.

For accuracy in content reproduction, the TV includes Studio Calibrated Mode and dedicated Netflix Adaptive and Sony Pictures Core modes. A new Prime Video Calibrated Mode extends this to include live sports, preserving the creator’s intent across different content formats.

The integrated Sony Pictures Core service provides access to a wide library of films in near 4K Blu-ray quality, including IMAX Enhanced titles, optimised for the display and sound hardware.

The connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, four HDMI ports (all supporting 4K 120Hz, eARC, and VRR), and two USB ports. The TV is powered by Google TV, so it supports a broad app ecosystem and voice control.

Physically, the TV measures 2199 × 1325 × 488 mm with the stand and weighs 71.4 kg. It comes bundled with a remote, power cord, tabletop stand, setup guides, and supports DVB-T/T2 and DVB-S/S2 tuners.

The Sony BRAVIA 5 98″ is priced at Rs 6,49,990 and is available starting July 23, 2025, across Sony Centres, Sony Exclusive stores, ShopatSC, leading electronics retailers, and major e-commerce platforms in India. As part of a limited-time launch offer, Sony offers a comprehensive three-year warranty, a Rs 25,000 cashback on select credit cards, and a fixed EMI option of Rs 19,995 per month.
