Arca South puts up FIFA-certified football pitch in Taguig

ASPIRING football players living in the City of Taguig, from the ages of six to 14, will have a place to enjoy the game of football, develop their skills and be competitive in the future.

This was made possible when Arca South opened up a pitch at Ayala Land Inc.’s 74-hectare mixed-use estate in Barangay Western Bicutan on a rainy Thursday last July 17.

“This is a FIFA-certified pitch. This will be the home of kids, who will be training and playing under Barca Academy Manila,” said Mylene Mendoza, marketing and advertising head of Arca South Estates Ayala Land as she attended the playing field’s launch with lawyer Aldrin Sinues, head of the Taguig Youth Development Office, and Robbie De Vera, a sports advocate and founder of event organizer XMPLR.

 Barca Academy Manila, through its  technical director Joel Llinàs, was also around during the launching, which saw eight teams and 300 young football enthusiasts joining tournaments for under-6, under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-16 players during a two-day period last July 17 and 18.

 The Academy, formed last year by Spain-based soccer club FC Barcelona, also organized the first Arca South Invitational Football Cup, a youth tournament that sets a new benchmark for grassroots football in Taguig City.

 “We want to share the methodology and values we have in Barcelona. We teach all levels,” said Barca Academy Manila’s Llinàs,

 The tournament was designed to become a recurring initiative in Taguig’s sports program to promote community-building, inclusivity and the city’s fast-growing football culture.

 The new pitch offers kids from all walks of life access to world-class amenities within an estate built for mobility and connectivity.

Officials of Arca South have high hopes in their quest to develop a new generation of athletes while reinforcing its identity as a future-ready estate that espouses live-work-play.
