India Hosts Global Anti-Doping Intelligence Workshop in Delhi, Strengthening South Asia’s Clean Sport Framework
NADA India and WADA, in collaboration with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia, organize intensive workshop with representatives from 10 countries to bolster anti-doping intelligence and investigations across Asia.
New Delhi- The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, successfully hosted the second edition of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)’s Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Workshop in New Delhi from July 21 to 25, 2025. The five-day event marked a major milestone in international anti-doping cooperation, aiming to build a robust global framework for clean and fair sport.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with WADA, INTERPOL, and Sport Integrity Australia, and saw active participation from national anti-doping organizations (NADOs) and law enforcement agencies from across South and Southeast Asia, including India, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, and the Philippines.
The sessions focused on a wide range of topics critical to modern anti-doping enforcement. These included:

Intelligence operations and methodologies

Managing confidential sources

Open-source intelligence (OSINT) gathering

Interview techniques and investigative analysis
The discussions highlighted the need for intelligence-led and cross-border collaboration to safeguard athletes’ integrity and the spirit of clean competition.
Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, commended the initiative, stating:
“We deeply appreciate this effort by WADA, in collaboration with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia. Hosting such an event reflects India’s commitment to enhancing global cooperation in clean sport.”
Anant Kumar, Director General of NADA India, emphasized the importance of regional outreach, saying:
“Following the success of our first workshop in May, this second edition involving 10 South Asian nations marks a significant step in strengthening the Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN).”
WADA’s Director of Intelligence & Investigations, Günter Younger, expressed optimism about India’s continued involvement:
“India has been a key partner in hosting these capacity-building workshops in Asia and Oceania. Such initiatives are essential to ensure that NADOs and law enforcement agencies maintain strong communication and cooperation across the region.”
The Delhi workshop is part of WADA’s Capability and Capacity Building Project, a flagship initiative to enhance global anti-doping response through the Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN). The final workshop under this initiative is scheduled to be held in April 2026, reinforcing India’s pivotal role in shaping a clean sporting future for the region.
