Live music and local pride will take centre stage in Gata de Gorgos on Friday August 1 as the much-anticipated Festigata returns as part of the town’s annual patron saint festivities. Organised by the Department of Festivities and led by Councillor Yolanda Leyda, the event forms part of the summer celebrations in honour of the Santísimo Cristo del Calvario, a deeply rooted tradition in the cultural life of the town.
Held every August, the patron saint celebrations blend religious devotion and community joy through parades, processions, bull runs, fireworks, concerts and communal dinners, drawing residents and visitors alike. Festigata adds a contemporary flavour to the celebrations, acting as a platform for both emerging and established music acts.
Since its early editions, Festigata has established itself as one of the most important summer music events in the Marina Alta, known for its promotion of music in Valencian, close-knit atmosphere and diverse musical styles. Past performers include Xavi Sarrià, Smoking Souls, La Fúmiga, Jazzwoman, Maluks and El Diluvi. The 2024 edition, headlined by Zoo, was a major success.

Ska, reggae and rock
This year, the evening will begin with Diàspora, a local favourite bidding farewell with a lively fusion of ska, reggae and rock.
Following them is Abril, a rising star from Benissa. With a background in poetry and theatre, Abril blends lyrical depth with soft indie-pop melodies. Her latest album Instruccions per estimar una cirera explores emotional vulnerability, desire and empowerment, and has been praised for its intimate soundscapes and evocative lyrics. A regular at festivals in the País Valencià, she is increasingly being recognised for her artistic authenticity and strong stage presence. Her performance at Festigata is expected to be one of the night’s highlights.
Closing the evening will be Zetak, an electro-folk band from Navarre that combines Basque lyrics with electronic beats. Their energetic live shows have earned them a loyal following across Spain.
As always, the bar’s proceeds will support the 2026 Gata festivities.
