RPF Delhi Division rescues 5,200 minor children under ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’

The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Delhi Division, has established 30 Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) at 30 RPF posts. Their primary responsibility is to proactively identify and rescue children found in distress or under suspicious circumstances on railway premises and trains, protecting them from child labour, trafficking, or other forms of exploitation.

“Under ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte,’ the RPF Delhi Division has rescued 5,200 minor children found in distress or suspicious circumstances from 2021 to June 2025. These children include those who had run away from home, were missing, got separated from their families, or were facing threats such as child labour or trafficking,” said Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway.

As part of this ongoing operation, RPF personnel identify children in vulnerable conditions on railway premises and trains and take swift action to rescue them.

The primary objective of ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’ is to identify and rescue children at risk and ensure their protection from exploitation.

“When RPF personnel rescue a child, they are handed over to the District Child Welfare Committee or an NGO working in this field, who then ensure the child is reunited with their parents or guardians,” Upadhyay added.
