World Bank delegation meets Hemant Soren, discusses development collaboration

A delegation of the World Bank led by India Country Director Auguste Tano Kouamé met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at Jharkhand Bhawan in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting focused on ongoing development programmes in the state and the possibility of future collaboration.

Kouamé took note of the Mukhyamantri Maiyaan Samman Yojana and acknowledged its role in the state’s efforts to alleviate poverty. He also shared observations on World Bank-supported initiatives in other parts of India and expressed interest in working with Jharkhand on similar lines.

The Chief Minister informed the delegation about work being done in the areas of rural development, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, education, natural resource management, and production. He outlined the state’s priorities and areas where external cooperation could support implementation.

The delegation expressed readiness to assist the state in project design, planning, and execution. Both sides agreed to organise a joint consultation and workshop in Ranchi to continue the dialogue.

The meeting marked a step towards building coordination between the state government and the World Bank on programmes focused on economic and social development.
