Flamingo Travels Taps Franchise Model To Expand In Bangalore And Surat News24 –
Ahmedabad-based Flamingo Travels, a long-standing firm in Gujarat’s tourism industry since 1996, is turning to a franchise model to support its ongoing expansion across India. The company recently opened new offices in Bangalore and Surat, marking its latest move in a growing regional network aimed at catering to evolving travel demands.
Expanding Through Local Partnerships
The company currently operates over 50 offices across multiple states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Major office locations include Ahmedabad, Baroda, Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, and Hyderabad.
The recent additions in Bangalore and Surat were opened under the company’s franchise model, which allows independent operators to run branches using Flamingo’s systems, training, and operational support. The approach blends centralised brand oversight with on-ground local expertise.
“We see our franchise partners as an extension of our team, helping us deliver tailored travel experiences while also growing regional entrepreneurship,” said Meeta Shah, Founder and Director of Flamingo Travels.
Adapting The Franchise Model for Indian Travel
The company’s franchise system is designed to cater to both mainstream and lesser-known destinations, responding to a rise in domestic travel and demand for curated itineraries.
Franchise partners are allowed to adapt offerings to suit local customer preferences while benefiting from the brand’s larger supplier network and digital infrastructure.
The company believes the model could play a role in promoting travel beyond metros, and in providing small-town business owners with entry into the tourism sector.
Technology Integration And Digital Tools
As part of its modernisation efforts, The company has invested in back-end systems and digital customer support. A centralised product office and a new online service team have been set up to streamline bookings and post-sales engagement. The company is also exploring the integration of AI tools for itinerary planning and real-time chat support on its website. These upgrades aim to improve consistency and convenience for customers regardless of their location.
A Measured Push Toward Sustainable Practices
Flamingo Travels has stated its intention to promote sustainable tourism by encouraging responsible travel and supporting local vendors. The company aims to reduce environmental impact by prioritizing lesser-known destinations, which helps ease pressure on over-touristed regions—a growing concern in India’s travel sector. While detailed sustainability benchmarks are still under development, Flamingo notes that its franchise model enables localized experiences and supports regional economies, aligning with broader industry efforts to decentralize tourism. This comes as more Indian travel operators begin integrating sustainability into their business frameworks, prompted by traveler awareness and government initiatives like the Ministry of Tourism’s “Travel for LiFE” campaign.
Workforce And Future Outlook
“We want to ensure people not only travel more but travel better. With stronger infrastructure and local presence, we’re trying to build a more responsive and relevant travel network,” Shah added.
The company employs over 300 staff members, with approximately half certified under the International Air Transport Association (IATA). As part of its expansion roadmap, the company says it will continue to use a mix of company-owned and franchise-operated offices in untapped regions.
