Pedro Pascal Joins ‘Andor’ Creator Tony Gilroy’s New Film ‘Behemoth’
After having a landmark 2025 in both film and television, Pedro Pascal is already setting his sights on his next big project. After the actor made waves earlier in the year with the second season of HBO’s video game adaptation The Last of Us, he went on to star in several major feature films: Celine Song’s rom-com Materialists, Ari Aster’s modern western Eddington, and the Marvel Studios tentpole film The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The next project the actor has lined up is with an acclaimed writer and director, who recently released the final season of his critically acclaimed Star Wars.
In an exclusive report from Deadline, it’s been revealed that Andor showrunner and creator Tony Gilroy is working on his next feature film project, currently titled Behemoth. Pascal is in talks to star, and while there is no official agreement yet, the outlet reports that the actor is interested and “things are headed in the right direction.” Oscar Isaac was attached to the role, but had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts. There isn’t much known about Behemoth (stylized as Behemoth!), other than what Gilroy has said in previous interviews, in which he mentioned that the film revolves around a cellist and the creation of music for movies.
Despite the uncertainty about Pascal’s attachment to the project, Gilroy has proven himself to be a capable storyteller, even within the constraints of a major Disney IP like Star Wars. The second season of Andor received critical acclaim for its character work that isn’t compromised by worldbuilding, and its seamless connection to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Meanwhile, Pascal is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having starred in three seasons of The Mandalorian and recently wrapped filming on The Mandalorian and Grogu.
‘Behemoth!’ Is Tony Gilroy’s Long-Awaited Return To Feature Filmmaking

Behemoth is set to be produced and distributed by Searchlight Pictures, which only recently joined the project. While Gilroy was heavily involved with Andor in his executive producer role as well as writing eight episodes, he didn’t direct a single installment of the series. In fact, the last time Gilroy directed a movie was The Bourne Legacy in 2012, which he also wrote.
Given how long it’s been since Gilroy has been in the director’s chair, it will be interesting to see how much his craft has evolved since his last directorial effort 13 years ago. The director last received critical acclaim in the theatrical landscape for his work on the George Clooney-led legal thriller Michael Clayton, which Gilroy both wrote and directed. It’s still unclear what genre Behemoth will be, although more details are sure to emerge as soon as a cast is finalized and a production start date is announced.
After his years-long commitment to Andor, it’s exciting to see Gilory return to feature films with Behemoth, and even more exciting if he indeed gets to collaborate with Pedro Pascal on the movie. The two have only ever worked together tangentially, as Pascal was in the 2016 film The Great Wall, for which Gilroy has a screenwriting credit. Hopefully, Behemoth is an exciting return to form for Gilroy on the big screen.
