5 Countries with the Most Google Users, is Indonesia Included?

GOOGLE provides various technology that has been adopted globally. Several countries even exhibit a very high level of dependency on Google’s services. This tech giant supports the need for information search through the browser, professional needs through cloud computing and various applications, as well as features for everyday activities.

Based on data from Semrush as of July 2025, there are 9.5 million Google searches worldwide every minute. Interestingly, the majority of these search activities still originate from devices used in Google’s home country, the United States.

This fact indicates that the Red and White Country (America) still heavily dominates the use of this technology, although it is slowly being followed by other major countries. Compiled from various sources, including World Population Review, here is a list of countries with the highest number of Google users up to 2024.

  1. United States

The United States (US), in 2023 and 2024, occupied the top position in the list of countries with the largest number of Google users. Based on data until 2023, Google’s traffic in the US reached 18.1 billion. This figure significantly jumped to 24.9 billion in April 2024.

This drastic increase reflects the high dependence of US society on digital search services. According to Statista as of February 2025, as many as 322 million US residents had accessed the internet. Google’s traffic from this country is estimated to exceed 30 billion searches in 2025.

  1. India

India also managed to maintain its position as the country with the second highest Google traffic for two consecutive years. In 2023, India recorded 11.7 billion Google search traffic every month.

This data traffic volume dropped to 10.6 billion searches in 2024. However, the use of Google services in the Land of the Taj Mahal is expected to grow. According to Statista as of February 2025, India is recorded as having the second largest digital population in the world, with 806 million active internet users.

  1. Japan

Contrary to India, Japan in the third position actually showed an increasing trend in the amount of Google traffic. In 2023, the country recorded 5.51 billion monthly traffic, before significantly rising to 6.94 billion in 2024.

Interestingly, Statista data as of February 2025 shows that internet users in the Land of the Rising Sun are only 109 million, much lower than Brazil, which reached 183 million users. With a relatively smaller number of digital users, many are wondering about the trend of Google traffic in Japan, whether it is increasing or stagnant?

  1. Brazil

Google traffic in Brazil surged significantly over the past two years. In 2023, Brazil recorded 3.29 billion traffic, which then became 6.29 billion last year. This increase is in line with the rapid growth of internet users in the country.

A total of 183 million Brazilians had accessed the internet as of February 2025. With this large user base, it’s very likely that Google’s traffic in Brazil will continue to increase this year.

  1. United Kingdom

Indonesia briefly occupied the fifth position in the list of countries with the most Google users in 2023, with traffic reaching 4.42 billion searches. This position was taken over by the United Kingdom (UK) in 2024, with actually less traffic, reaching 3.89 billion.

Indonesia was surpassed because its Google traffic significantly dropped in 2024. However, according to Statista, the number of internet users in Indonesia as of February 2025 reached 212 million people. This figure still has the potential to enter the list of countries with the largest number of Google users.
