KKI 2025: MSME export deals hit Rp168.3 billion

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that export business matching transactions by MSMEs during the Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) event, held on August 7-10, 2025, reached Rp168.3 billion (US$10.3 million).

This export business matching brought together MSMEs fostered by BI and ministries and institutions with 26 buyers and export aggregators from 17 countries.

BI Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti, in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday, urged various parties to promote the creative works of Indonesian MSMEs and designers.

“These MSME artisans play a role in preserving cultural heritage. Let us support each other, look after each other, and continue to collaborate, because the role of many parties is truly needed to advance the creative work of our MSMEs and designers. In the spirit of Kalala Mareda, let us unite to create,” Destry stated.

BI also recorded encouraging business matching figures for financing. Business matching for MSME financing reached Rp224 billion (US$13.79 million), while business matching specifically for green MSME financing reached Rp96 billion (US$5.9 million).

Public attention and interest in MSME products were also very positive, according to BI. This was reflected in sales turnover at the 2025 KKI, which reached Rp98.7 billion (US$6 million), consisting of Rp20 billion (US$1.23 million) in on-site sales and Rp78.7 billion (US$4.8 million) in online sales through the KKI platform. Almost all transactions utilized the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS).

Meanwhile, in terms of visitors, the number of attendees at various dialogue forums and activities held reached 152,458, comprising 15,552 attending in person at the JICC and 136,906 joining online via BI’s multi-channel platform.

During the opening of the talk show “Navigating Exports Amidst the Dynamics of International Trade,” BI Deputy Governor Aida S. Budiman emphasized that upgrading MSMEs to be competitive, advanced, and innovative is crucial for penetrating global markets.

In 2024, MSMEs accounted for 15.7 percent of the non-oil and gas exports. The central bank has consistently worked to encourage exports from the MSMEs it fosters. In 2024, these MSMEs achieved a turnover of Rp1.4 trillion (US$86.15 million).

This strong trend continued into the first quarter of 2025, when 431 MSMEs recorded export turnover totaling Rp452.5 billion (US$27.8 million), marking a 59.7 percent year-on-year (yoy) increase.

To continue promoting MSMEs’ global reach, BI stated it will keep strengthening synergy and collaboration with relevant ministries, institutions, and associations.

The central bank has formulated an MSME development initiative anchored on three main pillars.

The first pillar focuses on enhancing competitiveness by strengthening institutional structures through corporatization, building capacity, and improving access to financing for MSMEs. The second centers on encouraging the use of digital technology to support MSMEs. The third pillar emphasizes expanding literacy.

According to BI, the pull strategy is applied by involving its fostered MSMEs in various international trade promotions, conducting business matching, and strengthening networks with international curators. Conversely, a push strategy targets MSME development across Indonesia.

The 2025 KKI highlights BI’s commitment to fostering the advancement of Indonesian MSMEs, enhancing their resilience, and boosting global competitiveness.

The KKI, held in collaboration with 24 ministries and institutions, and involving more than 1,400 offline and online MSMEs and business actors, is expected to offer various innovative activities and foster international collaborations.

This initiative aims to introduce Indonesian creative works to the global stage, encouraging MSMEs to advance and expand their market share.
