Foreign Ministers of 27 states, EU Commissioners warn of Unimaginable Famine in Gaza – Syrian Arab News Agency

London, SANA-Foreign Ministers of 27 countries and EU Commissioners warned that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached “unimaginable levels,” calling on the Israeli occupation authorities to allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip and to refrain from obstructing relief efforts.

A joint statement published by the British government on its website stated: ” humanitarian suffering in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels. Famine is unfolding before our eyes. Urgent action is needed now to halt and reverse starvation. Humanitarian space must be protected, and aid should never be politicised.”

“Immediate, permanent and concrete steps must be taken to facilitate safe, large-scale access for the UN, international NGOs and humanitarian partners. All crossings and routes must be used to allow a flood of aid into Gaza, including food, nutrition supplies”. The statement stressed.

Corinne Fleischer, Director of the World Food Programme’s Supply Chain, said, “Airdrops will not prevent the famine that threatens the lives of half a million people in Gaza,” stressing the programme’s readiness to “flood the Strip with food” if it is allowed to enter by land.

For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the statement, calling on all countries, international regional unions, and the United Nations to quickly translate this international consensus into practical steps that bind the occupation and compel it to halt its crimes against the Palestinians.
