Space Camps ignited young brains to become next generation scientists: Science City of Andhra Pradesh CEO Kesineni Venkat | Vijayawada News

VIJAYAWADA: Hundreds of students at several govt and residential schools were thrilled to see the space and science gadgets presented during the space skill camps organised by the Science City of Andhra Pradesh. Space skill camp were conducted to promote scientific curiosity and provide practical exposure to students on space-related technologies. “We wanted to make the students get ready to take the new challenges coming up in the scientific world with first-hand exposure of the kits and equipment. We have designed the camps with the objective of bridging the gap between textbook learning and real-world application, particularly in rural government high schools,” said Science City CEO Kesineni Venkateswarlu. This initiative introduced students to cutting-edge technologies such as rockets, robotics, drones, virtual reality, telescopes, and astronomy—offering hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity and innovation. By directly engaging the students in interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, the camps cultivated a scientific mindset and inspired them to explore future academic and career opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. The outreach to under-resourced areas ensured that talented students, regardless of their background, were empowered with exposure to space science and emerging technologies. “Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to dream big and HRD minister Nara Lokesh’s commitment to bring big-ticket IT firms to AP has inspired us to move to the govt schools to motivate them on a big scale. We will continue the camps in more areas in the coming months so that the students will be confident to take up big challenges when they reach higher education,” said Venkat. He said that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and IT minister Lokesh are laying a red carpet for the STEM students from the state by bringing big firms to the state and it is up to the next generation students to grab the golden opportunity. Curiously, the camps organised by AP Science City were a big hit across the state as the students thronged to attend scientific sessions as well as the taking part in the exhibitions. About 810 students attended the camp held at Zilla Parishad girls high school, Banaganapalli, in Nandyal district Students from class-VIII to X were given opportunity to attend the classes in all the govt schools where the camps were held. They were allowed to use tools like drones, robotics kits, VR headsets, and telescopes, encouraging interest in space relateddisciplines. “It is a really a big experience to learn usage of drones, robotics, virtual reality, and telescopes,” said an SSC student Sabari of govt high school at Paderu of ASR district. She said that space camp offered immersive learning using space tools, enhancing students’ practical understanding of STEM concepts.Science spark
