World Bank Group commiserates with Ghana over military helicopter crash tragedy – Citinewsroom – Comprehensive News in Ghana
The World Bank Group has extended its condolences to Ghana following the military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including high-ranking government officials and members of the flight crew.
The fatal incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.
The victims included Minister of Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology and MP for Tamale Central Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, National Democratic Congress Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong and Deputy Director-General of NADMO Samuel Aboagye.
Also aboard were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
In a message to the President, the bereaved families and the people of Ghana, the World Bank Group paid tribute to the victims for their dedication and service to the nation, describing their loss as a significant blow to the country.
It reaffirmed its support for Ghana during this period of mourning and extended heartfelt sympathies to all affected by the tragedy.
“We are saddened by the loss of these dedicated public servants, whose commitment to Ghana will be remembered with deep respect. Our thoughts are with the families of the departed and the Government of Ghana during this time of national sorrow,” part of the statement read.
