Bath Taps into Science Festival Returns this November at the BRLSI – The Bath and Wiltshire Parent

Bath’s much-loved hands-on science festival, Bath Taps into Science, is back this November – and it promises more experiments, discoveries and family fun than ever before!

Running on 21 and 22 November (10am–4pm) at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI), the festival is part of the Academy of Imagination, BRLSI’s programme of children’s events designed to show just how exciting and accessible science can be.

The festival opens on Thursday 21 November with a schools-only day, where pupils from local schools will take over the BRLSI building with science-themed activities and demonstrations. Teachers of Key Stage 1–3 pupils can register their free school group by contacting email hidden; JavaScript is required.

On Friday 22 November, the festival opens its doors to the public – and everyone is welcome! There’s no need to book, simply turn up at 16 Queen Square, Bath and dive into a jam-packed programme of activities.

Visitors can expect everything from codebreaking challenges and paper dart experiments to exploring biomechanics, advanced propulsion, psychology, sustainability, astronomy, and even the design of buildings. Budding scientists will get hands-on with demonstrations covering the full spectrum of STEM – with plenty to spark curiosity whatever your age or interest.

“Bath Taps into Science is about making science fun and approachable for everyone,” says Becky Thoburn, BRLSI’s Learning and Engagement Officer. “Whether it’s exploring the stars, learning about how traits are passed down through genetics, or experimenting with electricity, there’s something here for all ages.”

The festival is part of the wider Academy of Imagination, which also includes the Brilliantly Engineered festival, holiday activities for families, and exciting learning opportunities for schools throughout the year.
