BKMEA’s EGM & AGM-2025 were held
The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) and 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BKMEA were held on Saturday (August 16, 2025) at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital. BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem presided over the function.
Executive President Fazlee Shamim Ehsan presented the important changes in the Articles of Association for the management of BKMEA in light of the government’s newly introduced Trade Organization Rules-2025. When the approval of the esteemed members present at the EGM was sought in this regard, it was unanimously passed in the meeting.
President Mohammad Hatem started the proceedings of the Annual General Meeting by calling on everyone to work together for the progress of the knitwear sector. He expressed gratitude to the members for attending the function.
Then, Vice President Mohammad Rashed gave a detailed account of the activities of BKMEA in the past one year. He informed the members about the projects jointly run with various government departments and domestic and foreign development agencies, their progress and current status.
Vice President (Finance) Morshed Sarwar Sohel presented the annual accounts of the 2024-25 fiscal year to the esteemed members. In the meeting, he proposed the appointment of an audit firm and the budget for the next one year. The members unanimously approved it based on the discussion.
An open question and answer session began at the end of the AGM. In this part, the members present wanted to know about various adversities in conducting business, the international trade situation and the steps taken by BKMEA.
At this time, the President, Executive President, and Vice President (Finance) jointly answered the questions of the members. Fazlul Haque, the former President of BKMEA, who was present on the stage, discussed the current challenges in conducting business and called on the government to create a business-friendly environment to facilitate trade.
The Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau Md. Anwar Hossain and Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Zakir Hossain Chowdhury were present as guests at the event. In their welcome speeches, they spoke about the various steps taken to facilitate trade for businessmen and the goodwill of the government.
At this time, the BKMEA President handed over a memento to the guests. In his closing speech, BKMEA Senior Vice President Amal Poddar expressed gratitude to everyone present at the event and concluded the event by inviting them to participate in the dinner.
