WFP warns of famine that threatens lives of half a million people in Gaza Strip

Gaza – Saba:

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said on Sunday that food aid reaching the Gaza Strip still represents only 47% of the daily target, warning that the situation threatens the lives of half a million people at risk of famine.

In a post on its account on the X platform monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the program confirmed that it is not possible to resume distributions, provide hot meals and operate bakeries supported by the program unless the volume of humanitarian aid is increased.

He stressed that the ceasefire is the only solution to expand the scope of support and deliver food to those in need.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that during the past 24 hours, Gaza Strip hospitals recorded 7 deaths, including two deaths of two children, raising the total number of famine and malnutrition martyrs to 258 deaths, including 110 children.

The Palestinians of the Gaza Strip have been facing an unprecedented wave of hunger since the Israeli enemy closed the Gaza Strip crossings in early March, and imposed severe restrictions on the entry of food and relief aid, fuel and medicine.
