We last saw Shah Rukh Khan in the 2023 hit film Dunki, and since then, we have been waiting for his upcoming project, King. One of the biggest reasons for the excitement around its release is his daughter, Suhana Khan. The Archies actor will see her first-ever theatrical appearance, marking her big-screen debut alongside her superstar father, Shah Rukh Khan.
However, it looks like we all will have to wait a little longer to watch the father-daughter duo weave their magic on the big screen. According to recent media reports, the release date of the film has been postponed to 2027 — and SRK is the reason. Here’s what really happened.

Shah Rukh Khan & Suhana Khan’s ‘King’ Pushed To 2027
Mid-Day has reported that the makers have delayed the filming of King due to Shah Rukh Khan’s shoulder injury, which he sustained while shooting an action sequence for the thriller. Quoting an insider, the report stated that the shooting has been paused as the superstar requires some rest for a couple of weeks before he can face the camera again.
“Shah Rukh needs to rest it out for weeks before he can face the camera again. It is an action-heavy film, so the team doesn’t want to take a chance with his health,” the source told Mid-Day.
As per News 18, doctors have advised SRK to take a complete break for at least a month. As a result, the film’s shooting schedule has been paused. Locations such as Film City, Golden Tobacco, and YRF Studios were booked by the makers of the film for July and August, but it has now been cancelled until further notice. The next schedule is expected to resume sometime in September or October.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, SRK sustained an injury while shooting an intense action sequence at Golden Tobacco studio in Mumbai. He has now flown to the United States for medical attention.
Recently, after the government announced that SRK had won the Best Actor National Award, he shared a video message on social media, thanking the government and his fans. In the video, he was seen wearing a sling on his arm due to a shoulder injury. During #ASKSRK session on Twitter, the Pathaan actor mentioned that the injury is healing, in response to a fan’s query.

King stars Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role as an assassin, a role he has never played before. Talking about the cast, several recent reports suggest that Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, Raghav Juyal, and Anil Kapoor have also joined the project in key roles.
Suhana will be seen as Shah Rukh’s student, taking training for deadly missions. The makers have also roped in international action directors to make sure the stunts are nothing short of epic.
