Fresh off the heels of an All-American Rejects show in a c-store parking lot in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Sheetz has orchestrated a partnership with music community Sofar to bring a concert to a for-now secret Sheetz location in Pittsburgh as part of its ongoing “Sheetzertainment” series. On Aug. 23, Sofar will transform a Pittsburgh venue into a curated music space for a live event featuring emerging local artists, the convenience-store retailer has announced.
The show will spotlight rising local artists who are making a name for themselves in the Pittsburgh music scene, bringing together music lovers and Sheetz fans in an intimate setting to experience live music, celebrate local art and connect as a community, the company said.
The show’s exact location will be revealed the day of the event. Tickets cannot be purchased ahead of time, but they can be won by entering on Sofar’s website. Those who enter will be submitted in a drawing for two tickets to the show.
Sofar is a global community reimagining the art of live experience, turning unconventional spaces into intimate showcases for local grassroots art and culture, it said. Each Sofar show is one-of-a-kind due to the pairing of live experience with unconventional space. Sofar shows have taken place in caves; churches; hidden museum rooms; private living rooms, gardens, and rooftops; a ski jump tower; countless boats, ships, and catamarans; a toy shop; a wax museum; and many other delightful places.
Performers such as Billie Eilish, Jack Harlow, Chappell Roan, Leon Bridges, YEBBA, Teddy Swims, Remi Wolf, Hozier and Lola Young have played Sofar shows early in their careers. In the past four years alone, Sofar alumni have earned 129 Grammy nominations and 21 wins.
The Sheetz collaboration marks Sofar’s launch in the Pittsburgh market, where it will continue to bring live music experiences to unconventional spaces throughout the city and provide a platform for local talent to gain exposure.
This concert is the latest in Sheetz’s Sheetzertainment live entertainment series, which will deliver a full lineup of live shows, unique activations and wild collaborations throughout Sheetz’s seven-state footprint, according to the Altoona, Pennsylvania-based company.
The series kicked off on Aug. 8 with a surprise All-American Rejects concert outside a Pittsburgh-area Sheetz. The one-night-only performance was part of the band’s House Party Tour, known for popping up in unexpected places across the country. Sheetz will continue its partnership with the All-American Rejects as they tour around the country with the Jonas Brothers.
The retailer will offer behind-the-scenes content and surprise moments at Sheetz locations throughout the duration of the tour, it said.
Sheetz will offer new Sheetzertainment events moments in the months ahead, it added.
