Valedictory function of YASSC 2025 celebrates student innovations in Astronomy and Space Science

The Valedictory Function of the State Level Young Astronomy and Space Science Congress – YASSC 2025 was held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Kaliswari College (Autonomous), Sivakasi. The programme began with the rendering of the Tamil Thai Vazhu.
B. Srikumar, Coordinator of Ariviyal Palagai, welcomed the gathering. The session proceeded with the evaluation of YASSC, which was presented by J. Manohar, General Secretary of TASS, G. Ramesh, President of TASS and Dr. D. Khanna, Evaluation Coordinator of YASSC 2025. They provided detailed and constructive feedback on the project presentations.
A total of 1252 students from across Tamil Nadu participated in the six events, namely Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Astrophotography, Short Film, E-content Development, and Astro-Game Creations. They appreciated the research integrity of the participants.
A. P. Selvarajan, Secretary of Kaliswari College (Autonomous), Sivakasi, presided over the function. In his presidential address, he lauded the dedicated efforts of the organising team and commended the active participation of the participants. He also pointed out that such events help to inculcate a scientific spirit among the students, which in turn contributes to nation-building. As part of the function, the book, ‘Celestial Shadow Play’, authored by Dr. T. V. Venkateswaran, Senior Scientist, IISER, Mohali and ‘Kodaikanal Suriya Utrarivakam’, authored by T. Santhi, Regional Coordinator, YASSC Trichy Region, were released.
