Louis Vuitton enters the beauty race with ultra-luxury make-up line
Announced in March and eagerly anticipated ever since, the debut of La Beauté — Louis Vuitton’s first makeup line—sparked immediate global headlines! With much of the focus falling on the price tag chosen by the LVMH group’s flagship brand.
With scented lipsticks priced at USD 160 (EUR 140) and eye shadow palettes at USD 250 (EUR 220), Louis Vuitton pushes to the extreme the boundaries of luxury in the beauty world.
The eight eye shadow palettes, 10 lip balms and 55 lipsticks featured in the debut collection will be sold from August 29, exclusively at 92 Louis Vuitton and other selected high-end stores across the world. Global online pre-orders will open on August 25 through the brand’s official website.
The collection launches under the creative direction of Pat McGrath, one of the most influential figures in color cosmetics today. Product textures are soft and hydrating, with lipsticks offering a satin finish and creamy shadows blending seamlessly. A subtle scent, developed by in-house perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and using an upcycled flower wax, runs through the collection.
Conceived by German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, the refillable aluminum-and-brass packaging is adorned with Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram and checkerboard pattern.
In a struggling luxury market, major international brands see the beauty sector as a strong growth driver.
