Borough event expected to continue into October
A concession stand, a popular balloon artist/clown, a talented caricaturist and an entertaining Disney-Pixar movie combined for a fun family night Aug. 15.
Northampton Borough’s outdoor movie series, held at Municipal Park, Smith Lane and Laubach Avenue, featured the film “Inside Out 2.”
Festivities began before the movie was started.
Blossom, from the Tootsie the Clown and Friends group, was brightly dressed, interacting with families and youngsters as they picked the balloon animal or other item for her to make. Choices included a lady bug, giraffe, swan, sword, turtle, baby octopus and more. Visit tootsietheclown.com or visit her Facebook page to book Blossom or other Tootsie the Clown group entertainer.
Northampton Area High School incoming seniors Natalie Stoudt and Janat Gill picked a turtle and a swan, respectively, for their balloon choice. Stoudt was also employed during the summer at the Northampton Municipal Pool.
An anonymous artist was present, creating stunningly attractive caricature drawings for anyone desiring a personal drawing for free. Aimee and Dan Davidson, of Allen Township, received a drawing of their twins, Kenzie and Connor.
Northampton Borough Manager Brian Welsko and office employee Tori Carson staffed the concession stand that served a variety of candies, hot dogs and refreshments. Carson, a recent NAHS graduate, said she plans a career in local administrative government.
Welsko said he was happy with the turnout and the local support of the summer outdoor movie series. He noted the first movie had about 100 attendees. He views the outdoor movies as a community-strengthening effort.
As the sunlight faded, the youngsters settled down with their families to watch the feature film.
Northampton Borough plans to run the outdoor movie program into October.
