Delhi Turns Waste into Energy and Infrastructure, Marks New Era of Growth : Ravinder Indraj
Delhi Minister Ravinder Indraj Leads ‘Freedom from Waste for Delhi’ Cleanliness Drive in Bawana
New Delhi– Delhi’s Minister for Social Welfare and SC/ST/OBC Welfare, Ravinder Indraj Singh, on Wednesday led a cleanliness drive along with local residents in Bawana JJ Colony. On this occasion, he appealed to people to actively participate in the ‘Freedom from Waste for Delhi’ campaign.
The Cabinet Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has taken the form of a people’s movement across the country. Responding to the call of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta , the people of Delhi are also giving new direction to this movement by keeping their surroundings free from filth and garbage.
Ravinder Indraj stated that in previous governments, waste was only considered a major challenge for environment and public health. But now, waste is no longer just refuse—it is fuel for development. Recently inaugurated Urban Extension Road has been constructed using waste-based materials. Through Waste-to-Energy and other upcoming plants in Delhi, garbage will now be converted into electricity and fuel, playing a key role in both environmental protection and energy production. With government initiatives, pollution will be reduced, households and vehicles will get fuel, electricity generation will increase, and roads will be built. This will mark a milestone in the journey of building a developed Delhi.
The Social Welfare Minister urged citizens not to dump garbage in vacant plots, drains, or streets, but to dispose of it only in dustbins and municipal collection vehicles. He further called upon students to become ambassadors of cleanliness, spreading awareness within their families and communities to prevent littering. Local committees and private organizations were also encouraged to treat cleanliness as a collective social responsibility.
Ravinder Indraj emphasized that cleanliness activities being carried out with public participation are not merely a campaign but a commitment to make Delhi a clean, healthy, and developed capital.
