Okeechobee Music Festival Heralds 2026 Return With Poster By Psychedelic Art Innovator [Video]

After pressing pause for 2024 and 2025, Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival (OMF) is set to return to Okeechobee, FL’s Sunshine Grove from March 19th–22nd, 2026 for its 10-year reunion. As Okeechobee ramps up to its official 2026 lineup announcement next month, festival producer Soundslinger linked up with psychedelic art pioneer Nigel Waymouth to create new poster for the upcoming event—the first Waymouth music poster in half a century. The process of creating the poster was also captured for a mini-documentary, now available to watch below.

Nigel Waymouth has influenced generations of artists and musicians across the globe. Born in India and raised in Argentina before moving to England, Waymouth in 1966 launched the now-legendary boutique Granny Takes a Trip on London’s King’s Road, where he designed both clothing for sale and the regularly changing shopfronts that became its defining feature. He soon teamed with fellow artist Michael English to form graphic design partnership Hapshash & The Coloured Coat, which went on to design era-defining posters for a long list of influential acts including Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and more. Several of his works are featured in the permanent collection at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, which often features them in retrospective exhibitions around the globe. Since 1970, Waymouth has pursued a career as a fine artist, focusing on painting and portraiture, with many of his works now included in distinguished public and private collections.

“I wanted to create a poster that would last for eternity, and bring the art back into the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival, while providing a platform that highlights talented artists,” said Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival founder and Soundslinger chairman Rechulski. “That’s where the initial thought came from. Nowadays, generally speaking, lineup posters are inundated with artist names, and one cannot appreciate the art. I wanted to mark the moment by having a different artist interpret the art for the festival every year, starting with Nigel Waymouth. The whole process has been a lot of fun, and that’s what it’s all about. ”

As Nigel Waymouth added of the new poster, “Okee reminded me of something: not the scene, but the spirit. I felt it was time for a little revival, to show the next generation what their forefathers have produced. With this piece and all of my art, I hope to remind everyone to always give peace a chance!”

Located in Okeechobee County—a one- to two-and-a-half-hour drive from South Florida’s major cities including Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale—Sunshine Grove is a picturesque, 830+ acre natural oasis with sweeping grasslands, pine and palmetto jungles, and expansive lakes and waterways. In addition to “what promises to be most exciting artist lineup for the gathering’s 10-year reunion,” OMF 2026 will offer “enrichment and experiences that are intrinsically connected to the surrounding ecosystem” including “captivating art installations around Chobeewobee Village and mindfulness practices taught in yoga, running and fitness classes to environmental lessons at the Earth Arts Academy, and beyond.”

The festival, founded in 2016, has a history of stops and starts. After punting its initial debut from 2015 to 2016, the festival held consecutive editions in 2017 and 2018 before going on a hiatus that lasted until 2020. Remarkably, the festival returned in March 2020, skating just under the wire of the complete live music shutdown as a result of the COVID pandemic. Okeechobee returned again in 2022 and 2023 before going back on pause in 2024 and 2025.

Per a press release, “OMF 2026 will see the event getting back to its roots, with headlining acts across electronic, rock, hip-hop, indie, and beyond.
