Spotify celebrates Notting Hill Carnival with a dedicated hub where users can dive into Caribbean music

To kick off this year’s Notting Hill Carnival, Spotify is rolling out exciting new features that bring Carnival’s vibrant spirit right to your phone. At the center of the rollout is a new film, “Carnival Sounds: The Sounds of Notting Hill Carnival,” narrated by DJ AG, with appearances from old and new school artists like Gyptian to Shenseeea, Yung Bredda, YG Marley, Nia Smith and more. Celebrating the defining sounds of Carnival—Soca, Reggae, Dancehall, and Jungle – the film dives into the legacy of the iconic event and how Spotify continues to serve as a cultural bridge honouring Carnival’s roots.

Spotify is celebrating the sixth year of the partnership with Notting Hill Carnival, and has also launched Carnival Sounds, a dedicated hub where users can dive into Caribbean music, heritage, and stories. For the first time, Spotify has partnered with The Black Curriculum to curate a bespoke selection of audiobooks and podcasts within the hub, offering a deeper dive into the rich cultural tapestry of Carnival beyond the music.

Spotify has introduced Carnival Sounds Sharecards – a mini Wrapped experience, created just for Carnival. Users will be able to see their top five tracks from these genres and create an interactive card to share with friends and family.

“We’ve been collaborating with Notting Hill Carnival for six years now, and it’s always incredible to be able to celebrate the influence and community of Carnival. We’re proud to host the Carnival Sounds hub as the ultimate destination for Caribbean music, heritage, and stories,” said Safiya Lambie-Knight, Head of Music, UK & Ireland at Spotify, “ It’s especially meaningful to be working with an organisation like The Black Curriculum, who champion the preservation and teaching of Black stories, in ways that are accessible and rooted in community. Notting Hill Carnival is a powerful expression of Caribbean identity, and it’s really rewarding to be able to support and elevate these voices ahead of Carnival weekend.”
