Exploring the music of Paul McCartney through song – Sentinel and Enterprise
LUNENBURG — The community is welcome to enjoy a captivating musical program as seasoned musician Dan Kirouac delves into the legendary career of Sir Paul McCartney, tracing his evolution as one of the most influential songwriters of the 20th and 21st centuries.
This presentation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Lunenburg Public Library, 1023 Massachusetts Ave.,
“It [my presentation] will explore Paul McCartney’s songwriting journey through the 1960s with The Beatles, his continued innovation with Wings, and his expansive solo career,” explained Kirouac.
From the early influence of his father — a jazz musician active in the 1920s and ’30s — McCartney embraced the sounds of ballroom and dance-hall big bands, weaving them into the rich tapestry of pop and rock that would define a generation.
“It is my hope that the audience will relive the musical shifts and styles that have marked his extraordinary 65-year career,” said Kirouac. “Highlighting his versatility across genres from classic rock to easy listening.”
Kirouac — a staple of the regional music scene for over four decades — is an entertainer, drummer, keyboardist, guitarist, vocalist, and ASCAP-affiliated songwriter and publisher. He has performed hundreds of shows throughout New England and beyond.
Notably, he is a 15-year veteran of the touring Beatles tribute band “Beatles For Sale,” where he portrayed the roles of John Lennon and, when needed, covered selections from McCartney and Harrison’s catalog.
“I believe that my deep appreciation and knowledge of McCartney’s work brings unique insight and authenticity to this tribute to one of music’s enduring icons,” Kirouac said.
Whether you’re a lifelong Beatles fan or a casual listener, this program offers an unforgettable journey through the music, legacy, and genius of Sir Paul McCartney.
