Defence Stocks in Focus: India and Fiji work out defence action plan, announces PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted India’s deepening partnership with Fiji, announcing that both nations have worked out a defence action plan to enhance cooperation. Modi made the statement during the visit of Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, calling it a new chapter in bilateral relations.

“India and Fiji may be oceans apart, but our aspirations sail in the same boat,” PM Modi said, stressing that terrorism remains a collective challenge for humanity. He recalled his 2014 visit to Fiji — the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 33 years — which led to the formation of the Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), strengthening ties not only with Fiji but the entire Pacific region.

The announcement is expected to bring defence stocks into focus in today’s trade as investors track developments in India’s expanding defence diplomacy and potential opportunities for the sector.
