Maruti Suzuki e Vitara flagged off by PM Modi, first made-in-India EV to be exported – Car News
PM Modi inaugurated Suzuki’s new EV manufacturing plant at Hansalpur, Gujarat in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Ambassador of Japan, Keiichi Ono.
Maruti Suzuki has finally kickstarted with the production of the e Vitara in India. The electric SUV is being built at the Suzuki’s new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant at Hansalpur, Gujarat which was inaugurated by none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of key dignitaries including Toshihiro Suzuki, Chairman and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation.
After making its global debut at EICMA in Milan, Italy last November, the e Vitara made its debut in India earlier in January this year at Auto Expo 2025. The first batch of e Vitara is set to be shipped to foreign markets and will be shipped from Pipavav port to the European region, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Austria, and Belgium.
The e Vitara is expected to be exported to over 100 nations, making it the first made-in-India EV to be exported to foreign market. Suzuki has confirmed that the new facility at Hansalpur will serve as the new manufacturing base for the Indo-Japanese carmaker catering to both domestic sales as well as exports.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Specs & Features
As revealed earlier, the e Vitara will be available in three variants, namely Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The electric SUV will be offered with two battery pack choices — 61.1 kWh and 48.8 kWh. Both are paired with a single electric motor and are claimed to deliver a range of up to 500 km on a full charge. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes.
Upon launch, the e Vitara will arguably be the most feature-packed Maruti till date. It wil be equipped with a host of premium features, including LED projector headlamps, three-point LED DRLs and tail lamps, an electric sunroof, ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, multiple drive modes, seven airbags, automatic climate control, dual 10-inch displays, 18-inch alloy wheels, and fog lamps.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Expected launch & price
The e Vitara was initially speculated to launch on September 3 this year, however, it’s now almost certain that it won’t. Instead, Maruti will launch a brand new mid-size SUV, rumoured to be called Escudo, which will be the new flagship product under the Arena range. We expect the e Vitara to hit the roads in India sometime towards the end of this year.
When launched, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will compete against the likes of Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV. Hence, expect prices to start around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
