The Shilla Duty Free unveils Chanel duplex boutique at Incheon
The Shilla Duty Free has opened a new two-storey Chanel boutique in Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.
Retail bosses hope the store, which is Chanel’s first duplex store in a Korean airport, will become a “landmark” for travelling shoppers.
Designer Peter Marino, a longtime collaborator with Chanel created the store’s look, which blend’s the brand’s iconic identity with a modern aesthetic. Inside, products are displayed on a white background with black accents, to call to mind Chanel’s packaging. On the walls, a selection of contemporary art pays tribute to the brand’s founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel and her art patronage.
The retail space is nearly three time larger than the brand’s former presence at the airport. The product range includes ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, watches and jewellery, including Chanel’s iconic bags and this season’s Change 25 handbags.
“We expect this Chanel duplex boutique to be a landmark at Incheon International Airport, in terms of size, interior design, the range of products it offers, and its differentiated customer service,” said a Shilla Duty Free representative.
The store, located near Gate 252 in Terminal 2 officially opened on 22 July. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by guests and dignitaries, including Hotel Shilla General Manager Han In-gyu, Chanel Korea CEO Claus Oldager, and Incheon International Airport Corporation Head of Operations Kim Chang-kyu.
